Fairfax
has a climate that is typical of the other Mid-Atlantic states, with four distinct seasons. Winter brings sustained cool temperatures, although not frigid. Light snowfall in winter is common with occasional heavy snowfall. Summers tend to be hot and humid, and the combination of heat and humidity brings frequent thunderstorms, sometimes severe. Tropical cyclones (or their remnants) occasionally track through the area, but usually weaken by the time they reach the inland area. Spring and fall are mild and quite lovely in Fairfax. Spring is considered one of the best times of the year with comfortable temperatures, low humidity and beautiful blooming foliage.
